THE Classic sailing experience - Mariska
The story begins with Manon & Dan wanting to keep Mariska alive and doing what she does best, racing.
Shortly after conceiving the concept of putting Mariska availble for charter, Manon and Dan were joined by a group of enthusiastic sailors which together form Mariska's crew. Mariska welcomes and opens the world of classic sailing to all sailing enthusiats who are eager to experience how sailing and racing was done over 100 years ago.
Dan
CaptainBorn in Slovenia, he spent most of his life at sea. Dan started competitive sailing at the age of six in optimist and then moving on to bigger classes such as Europe, 470 and 29er. His true passion however has always been classic yachts. At the age of 16 he started building his own wooden schooner called Cassiopeia, which finally touched water 5 years later. The following two years he spent racing and cruising her in the Adriatic sea and the Mediteranean, continuing always working as a wooden boatbuilder.
In 2020 Dan became the captain of Mariska. Under his command Mariska has undergone a major refit and has participated in many classic yacht regattas all around the Mediterranean. In 2023 he joined forces with Manon to bring Mariska as a comercial vessel to keep her racing and in perfect condition.
Manon
Boat Manager & First MateBorn in Belgium, Manon grew up in Lisbon. Driven by her different passions she travelled all around the world, working in photography, hospitality, events organization and as a crew member on sailing yachts. Manon has always been passionate about the sea. Before joining Mariska, she completed several seasons racing onboard different classic yachts. Her sailing experience has led her to sail in the Mediterranean, the Atlantic, the Baltic and North Sea, Indian Ocean and the Caribbean. In 2023 Manon joined forces with Dan, and is now the driver of this project bringing her hospitality and sailing skills together onboard.
The Team
Composed by passionate and enthusiasts sailors, all of them with a different background and specific skills that will bring a plus to the team. All of them are related to sailing activities and are reunited onboard of Mariska by the bounds of their passions and friendships.
